Planning Guides

Full galleries over Instagram grids, a style you will still want in twenty years, and the questions worth asking before you sign — ten things to weigh up first.
Your wedding photographer will be beside you during some of the most emotional moments of your wedding day. Long after the flowers are gone and the celebration is over, your photographs become one of the few things that remain.
1. Look beyond Instagram
Instagram shows highlights. Ask to see complete wedding galleries so you can understand how a photographer documents an entire wedding — from preparation and family photographs to difficult lighting conditions and evening celebrations.
2. Find a photography style you still want in 20 years
Trends change. Colour grading, dramatic filters and editing styles that look fashionable today may eventually feel dated. I personally believe wedding photography should feel timeless.
3. Look for real emotion
Beautiful portraits are important, but weddings are filled with moments that cannot be recreated: your father’s expression when he sees you in your wedding dress, your mother’s hands helping with your veil, or your partner quietly looking at you during the ceremony.

4. Experience matters
Wedding days move quickly. An experienced photographer learns to anticipate moments before they happen and knows how to adapt when schedules change.
5. Make sure you feel comfortable together
Your photographer may spend eight to twelve hours beside you. You should feel comfortable enough to laugh, cry and simply be yourself.
6. Understand what is included
Before comparing wedding photography packages in Singapore, understand exactly what each package includes:
- Number of photography hours
- Number of photographers
- Edited images delivered
- Delivery timeline
- Albums or prints
- Videography
- Overtime charges
- Travel fees
If you are still working out what a realistic figure looks like, my guide to Singapore wedding photography prices breaks down what changes the number.
7. Ask about backup equipment
Professional photographers should have backup cameras, lenses, batteries and storage. Weddings don’t have a reshoot button.
8. Consider whether you need two photographers
For larger weddings, two photographers can be extremely useful. One can document the bride while another photographs the groom, and ceremonies can be covered from different perspectives.
9. Don’t choose based on price alone
Instead of asking only, “Who is cheaper?”, ask: “Whose photographs do I want to look at twenty years from now?”
10. Trust your photographer
Once you’ve chosen someone whose work and personality you love, allow them creative freedom. Some of my favourite photographs happen in moments that weren’t planned at all.
My philosophy
After photographing hundreds of weddings, I’ve learnt that wedding photography isn’t simply about creating beautiful images. It’s about noticing the little things — the nervous hands, the laughter between friends, and the tears parents try to hide.
Because eventually the wedding day becomes a memory, and photographs become the way we return to it.
Thinking about coverage for your own day? Have a look at the collections and pricing. Tell me about your plans — I would love to hear them.
